我们为什么开发“有机英语”？
“有机英语”Organic English的授课和学习方法是简而精（强）的。此学习系统反映了英语语言的模式：由核心知识和主要技能组成的动态矩阵，以及调动该知识和技能的处理能力。为准备网考托福这样一个综合考查听、说、读、写四种技能的考试，最理想的方法就是综合培训。“有机英语”是完全针对秦苏珊英语中心的中国学生设计的，自然也和中心课程天衣无缝的结合。
有机英语课程介绍
对于希望在托福中取得高分的同学来说，综合的学习策略才是个取得成功的策略。熟悉托福题型和应试策略只能帮助考生达到一定的分数，但对于针对需要流利而准确表达的口语和写作部分，这样的准备是不够的。
每一门有机课程都有综合而循序渐进的课程内容，其设计是针对全面的复习和练习，并且遇到一些特殊问题时便于教师介入做更进一步的讲解。有机英语的模块为：
1）传统的“组成技能”Component Skills，如语法、词汇、正确拼写、发音、语调以及流利的运用。
2）听、说、读、写四个“主要技能”Key Skills，涵盖了考试四个部分的各种题型。
3）“赋能技能”Enabling Skills：包括各种的思维、处理、学习技能，如泛读、速读、计划和笔记策略、掌握英语意念和单词的常用逻辑排序等等。因为当考生快速的读、听书写及口语的英语材料并做出答复时，他必须有能力用英语思考和组织意念。对每一个希望取得托福高分的考生，这些赋能技能都是至关重要的。
4）学生会熟悉网考托福所涉及的内容背景知识，即广泛的专业领域和校园生活的背景。
对以上各项熟悉掌握的学生将会得到高的考分。
Why did we create Organic English?
Organic English is a simple but powerful way of teaching and learning English. This learning system reflects the model of English language—a dynamic matrix that includes core knowledge components, key skills, and the processing ability to put these competencies into action. An integrated approach to English is ideal preparation for an integrated, four-skill test like the TOEFL iBT test. Furthermore, the materials used in the Organic English courses were specifically designed for the Chinese students at Susan Chyn English Centers and are thus seamlessly aligned with the curricula.
General overview of Organic English offering for TOEFL iBT
For students who wish to conquer the TOEFL iBT, an integrated strategy is a winning strategy. Though a familiarity with the TOEFL iBT question types and test-taking strategies will help increase a test taker’s score to a certain point, it won’t be enough for the Speaking and Writing sections, which require demonstrated fluency and accuracy.
In each Organic English course, students are given integrated and articulated curricula, designed for comprehensive review and practice, and mediation when a more comprehensive review is necessary. The modules in Organic English are:
1) The traditional language component skills of grammar, vocabulary, orthography, pronunciation and intonation, and fluency.
2) The key skills of reading, listening, speaking and writing; all types of questions in each of the four sections are covered in this module.
3) Enabling skills, which include such diverse cognitive, processing and learning skills as skimming and speed-reading, planning and note-taking strategies, understanding the conventions of logical sequencing of ideas and words in English, etc. Because the test taker must be able to think and organize ideas in English, as he or she quickly reads, listens and responds to English written and audio texts, these enabling skills are essential for anyone who hopes to receive a high TOEFL iBT score.
4) Students will gain a familiarity with the contextual backdrop of the TOEFL iBT test— the vocabulary and the knowledge base of many diverse academic domains and campus life contexts.
Students who achieve proficiency in the above will receive a high TOEFL iBT score.
